10 months!

To my Hattie Bug,

You are 10 months old today!! I know this is a huge cliché, but where has the time gone? It seems like you just came into our lives yesterday! I feel so incredibly blessed to have you complete our little family.

What you are doing these days
*Not sleeping like you used to, that’s for sure! You used to sleep all night and now you are so restless and cry out all the time. Teething?
* You have 6 teeth and 4 more trying to come through! You have your bottom 4 and your top two incisors, and yes you look like a baby vampire.
* You clap at everything, even when the people on tv clap!
* You can fake cough. When me or Daddy cough, you have to do it too. You are becoming such a mimic!
* You love to pet and touch and play with Cyrus, he on the other hand could care less about you unless he thinks he can get food from you.
* I have never seen a baby happier to take a bath than you are. You would play in the tub all day every day if I let you.
* I have never seen a baby eat like you. I have not found anything but peaches that you will not eat. You ate almost a whole sweet potato last night! And green beans too!
* We finally found a cup you can drink out of, a straw sippy cup with handles on the sides.
* We moved you out of your carrier car seat to your big girl car seat a couple of weeks ago (still rear facing) and you enjoy it so much better because you can see out now. And my back is feeling lots better now that I don’t have to tote you everywhere.
* You are really picking up on your baby sign language now! Milk, eat, more, dog, change diaper, light and bath.
* You can say mama, dada and we thing “what’s that”. You picked that up from your cousin Carson.
* You are still in your orthotic helmet for brachycephaly, but hopefully only for one more month.
*You are some what crawling. You have popped your face a couple of times and now are hesitant to do it again. You can definitely scoot anywhere you want to go though.
*Pulling up on anything that will hold still is your current favorite thing to do.
* You get really excited to see the dog running around outside. I have no idea why this is better than him running around inside, but hey, whatever makes you happy.
*During the past two weeks you have started to make this weird new face. You scrunch your nose up and make a little “o” of your mouth and cry of fuss. It is so funny.
* You don’t seem to like other babies. You got so mad when we were at Tina and Hazel’s the other day in the pool. You actually scratched Hazel’s back….on purpose.
* And on that note….you have become very mean in the past couple of weeks. You smack, scratch, sling yourself backwards, kick and on and on when you get mad now. We try not to laugh, but its really hard not to sometimes.
* Still loving the Baby Einstein dvd’s.
* You weigh around 23lbs and are about 30 inches tall now.
* And last but not least, your hair is still as crazy as ever. And it is getting so long. But no bows for you, you just pull them out and throw them down.

Check out how much you have changed in such a short amount of time!!

Changes...

As Tina and I are getting geared up to go to Switcheroos (kids consignment sale) tonight I realize just how much has changed in my life over the past 9 months or so. I overheard some of the other people at work discussing where they wanted to hang out tonight and who had the best beer on draft and who had music trivia vs. a live band, etc. This used to be me! I have to admit I miss going out with friends at a moments notice and not having a care in the world except for myself. (and of course Dorian, but you know what I mean)

And now I have wonderful Hattie! I'm so happy to just pick her up at moms, go home and just be with her, be it playing, eating, watching tv or whatever. Don’t get me wrong, I still get out every now and then, it's just that priorities have really changed now. I plan my days now on her schedule. You can’t leave the house at a moments notice anymore.....you need at least a 30 to 40 minute warning. Sometimes more depending on your state of dress at the time. You have to tote so much stuff everywhere!! This gets easier as the baby gets older and older I'm learning. If your little one gets fussy, it's time to hurry the hell up and get home for naptime. About the only time you have a moment to do anything is when the baby is asleep. Days off now consist of all the crap you didn't do during the week, plus all the other stuff you said you were going to do on the weekend anyways. Need a break? Now a days its sitting outside drinking a beer while the baby naps so you can hurry to sweep and mop just to have the baby wake up to crawl and scoot all over the floor and find all the dog hair and pieces of junk you so obviously missed somehow. Used to sitting down and having a quiet dinner? Not anymore! Dinner now consist of me picking up the sippy cup for the thirty-third time off the (mopped?) floor, dodging little fingers and hands just to get food in the baby's mouth, baby banging on highchair and yelling as she runs out of food to feed herself and the dog sitting patiently below her. I spend more time cleaning up afterwards than I did eating. Lost a few pounds lately, wonder if hardly eating sometimes has something to do with it?? My favorite time of the day? Bedtime! As I go to lay her down in bed she curls on her side and grabs her blanket and falls asleep I realize I wouldn’t change my life now for anything.

Okay, so this was a totally random blog. Hope you followed along okay!!

Life

So I have been informed that I’m a bad blogger. What can I say? I’m a slacker! And we don’t have a home computer right now so that makes it rough. Anywhoo….

The beach was AMAZING. It was a great vacation. The first two days we were there it rained. And I mean poured!! Hattie and I spent a lot of time wandering the resort those first two days. When we first got there Dorian was running a high fever and slept the whole time. I felt awful for him. He looked exhausted. So I put Hattie in the stroller and away we went…..in the rain in a few spots too.

Things I learned at the beach with a 9 month old.
·       Hattie hates sand
·       Hattie eats sand
·       Its 90 degrees at 7 in the morning
·       Hattie can last a total of an hour and a half outside in the heat before having to go inside and take a 3 hour nap….twice a day.
·       Not a lot of good tv on during the day while the baby sleeps and sleeps and sleeps.
·       Teething and the beach and the fun in sun makes for a very crabby and sleepy baby.
·       Moms are awesome for watching grandkids after they go to sleep so the parents can get out of the room for a little while.
·       The bartenders name was Donna
·       I only used half the stuff I brought for Hattie. (figures)

Here a few pics of the family at the beach. My sister Angie, my bro in-law Terry, and their kids Taylor, Alexis, Mikayla and TJ. Mom and Danny were there too but I didn’t get any pictures of them. I didn’t get many pictures period. I have GOT to learn to be ready with the camera at all times!!

Hmm...looks like I didnt get any pictures of the adults.

Not much else has been going on since then. Just working and all that good stuff. Hattie went to her head dr appointment last Tuesday and it looks like another month in the helmet. We go back in 2 weeks for an adjustment and then in 2 more weeks for another scan. I have my fingers crossed that she will be out of it then. We are going on week 13 or 14 in the helmet right now.

Angie and I hit up some yard sales on Saturday. Found a few good ones, got a few things, went to the TR Farmers Market, the Flop Shop, (I LOVE that place!!!!!) and then we went and ate at Molina’s. I couldn’t get Hattie to drink out of her sippy cup and I knew she had to be thirsty b/c it had been so hot all day. My sister tells me to give her a sip from my straw. I’m thinking “whatever, she cant drink from a straw”. WRONG!!! She’s a champ!! I went and bought a few sippy cups with the straw feature and she goes to town on them! She is so stinking cute. They are the no-spill kind. (until she shakes the crap out of them)

It’s Shark Week! This is one of my favorite weeks of television. After I talked to an old friend last night, Dorian and I sat and watched a few programs. I don’t know why I enjoy it so much, it’s just so interesting.

Happy Monday to all!
